Halifax District RCMP is advising the public of an investigation where counterfeit American currency was used in Eastern Passage.
On January 29, a woman entered a gas station on Cow Bay Rd. and made a purchase using what appeared to be an American $100 bill. The bill was later determined to be counterfeit.
The currency had the serial number LB45440078L. It was printed on smooth paper and was blue/purple in colour.
The suspect is described as a white, middle–aged woman with a thin build and long, white hair that appeared to be bleached. She was wearing a white and black jacket and a grey mask.
Anyone in the area who handles currency in the course of their business or work is reminded to be on the lookout for suspicious currency. Should anyone come into contact with counterfeit currency, please report it to police. If you unknowingly accept counterfeit currency as legal tender, you cannot be reimbursed.
