RCMP Traffic Services East stops car speeding through school zone, driver arrested for drug-impaired driving

A 53-year-old Bay Roberts woman was arrested by RCMP Traffic Services East yesterday after she was stopped for speeding in a school zone.

On January 28, 2021, shortly after 3:00 p.m., an officer conducting traffic enforcement observed a vehicle traveling 78 km/h through a school zone in Bay Roberts. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver showed signs of drug impairment. She was arrested and was transported to the detachment where she completed a drug influence evaluation. Officers await the results of the testing to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate. The woman's driver's licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
