UPDATE – Found human remains identified

Update:

The found human remains located along the shore of the Winnipeg River in Sagkeeng First Nation on February 3, 2021, have been identified as Clifford Guimond, 56.

The RCMP had put out a release on December 31, 2020, asking for public assistance in locating Guimond. He was last seen sometime between December 14 and December 17, 2020, in Powerview.

Foul play is not suspected at this time. The investigation continues.

The family asks for privacy as they grieve.

On February 3, 2021, at approximately 4:35 pm, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of found human remains along the shore of the Winnipeg River, off Highway 11, on Sagkeeng First Nation.

RCMP and First Nation Safety Officers have contained the scene at this time.

Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the investigation.

Today a Forensic Anthropologist along with RCMP Forensic Identification Services will be attending the scene.

RCMP continue to investigate.
