On January 24, 2021, at approximately 5:30 am, Norway House RCMP received a report of a head-on collision between a car and a First Nations Safety Officer pickup truck on Paupanekis Point Road.
Initial investigation has determined the car was travelling southbound when it crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with the northbound pickup truck, which had steered onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid the collision. At the time of the collision, there was blowing snow, but the road was not icy.
All four occupants of the car as well as the two First Nations Safety Officers in the pickup truck were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and released.
Due to injuries the driver of the car sustained during the collision, a breath test was not possible and a blood demand was made at the hospital. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing cause to the collision.
The investigation continues.
