Harbour Grace RCMP conducts traffic stop on vehicle traveling twice speed limit; driver is arrested on a warrant

Harbour Grace RCMP conducted a traffic stop on January 8, 2021, on a vehicle that was traveling twice the speed limit in Small Point and arrested the driver for being at large on a warrant.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers on patrol observed a car that was travelling 115 km/hr in a 50 km/hr residential area through the community. A traffic stop was conducted and and police learned that the driver, a 37-year-old Western Bay woman, was driving without insurance and was wanted on a warrant by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC). She was arrested, ticketed for the traffic violations and turned over to the RNC for a court appearance. Police issued a suspension of her driver's licence and seized and impounded the car.
