Bonnyville RCMP along with assisting units locate male after fleeing police

On Jan. 28, 2021 at 2:20 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of a male breaching his court order. Police attended a location near 66 Avenue in Bonnyville to locate the male. Upon arrival the male fled in a vehicle, ramming a police vehicle and nearly hitting two officers.

Multiple RCMP Detachments and specialized units combined efforts to systematically search for and locate the male. Through these efforts the male was located at an apartment building on the west side of Bonnyville. Members of the Bonnyville RCMP, Bonnyville General Investigation Section, Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, Elk Point RCMP and two Police Dog Units tactically contained the building, and the male was located and arrested.

A 33-year-old male of Elk Point, Alta. has been charged with:

  • Assault on a police officer with a weapon
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Resist a police officer
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house

He has been remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Feb. 1, 2021.
