Bay St. George RCMP continues traffic enforcement and seizes two vehicles

Two people, who were not supposed to be driving, are without their vehicles following traffic stops conducted by Bay St. George RCMP on January 12, 2021.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., police were on patrol on West Street in Stephenville and observed a driver not wearing a seat belt. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 42-year-old Piccadilly man, was driving with a suspended driver's license. He was ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt and for driving while suspended. His vehicle was seized and impounded.

Later that day, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police were on patrol in Ship Cove and observed a known prohibited driver operating a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 55-year-old Ship Cove woman, was found to be driving while prohibited. She was arrested and was later released from custody. She is scheduled to attend court at a later date to face a criminal charge of driving while prohibited. Police ticketed the woman for operating an unregistered vehicle and seized and impounded her car.
