Alberta RCMP Officer faces serious criminal charge

Edmonton – The RCMP were made aware of allegations against RCMP Cpl. Kire Kondoski and the issue was immediately referred to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). Today, ASIRT announced that on Jan. 22, 2021, Cpl. Kire Kondoski was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault. The incident occurred while Cpl. Kondoski was off duty.

Cpl. Kondoski and the victim were known to each other.

Cpl. Kondoski has been released on conditions and will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on March 4, 2021.

At the time the allegation was made, the conduct authority determined a temporary reassignment to administrative duties was the appropriate course of action; this decision was made in line with policy and procedure.

No further information will be provided at this time as this matter is before the courts.
