Shellbrook RCMP serious collision

On Saturday, August 1, 2020, Shellbrook RCMP received the report of a two-vehicle collision between Highway 693 and White Star Road, north of the community of Holbein, SK. EMS and Shellbrook Fire and Rescue also attended the scene.

Initial investigation revealed a Jeep SUV, carrying four occupants, was travelling west on White Star Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a Ford SUV, carrying one occupant, travelling north.

A 41-year-old male passenger of the Jeep SUV was declared deceased on scene by EMS. The other occupants, three adult males, two 41-year-olds and a 24-year-old, were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The 41-year-old driver of the Jeep SUV was taken into custody to the Prince Albert Detachment and released.

The female driver of the Ford SUV, who was the lone occupant, sustained minor injuries from the collision.

The Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team, a Prince Albert RCMP Reconstructionist, and the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service also attended the scene.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
