RCMP on scene of serious collision

Lunenburg District RCMP is on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision.

Just after 2:20 a.m. this morning, RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the 325 Highway in Maitland. Residents awoke to find a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire sitting on their front lawn and the power pole in front of their home damaged.

The driver and lone occupant, a 22-year-old man from Lunenburg County, was transported to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, where he has since been transported to the QEII in Halifax with serious injuries.

An RCMP collision analysts attended the scene and the investigation is continuing. Highway 325 is currently closed between Northfield Rd. and Big Lots Rd. It's expected to be closed for the morning.
