RCMP locate stolen vehicle and charge driver

Cumberland District RCMP located a stolen vehicle and charged the driver with several offences.

Just before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, Springhill RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Springhill. The vehicle was determined to be a stolen vehicle from Bible Hill, N.S.

RCMP located the vehicle with two males in it on the Athol Rd. The vehicle failed to stop for police and pulled in to a driveway where both males fled on foot in to the woods. A short time later, the driver was apprehended without incident and the passenger was able to avoid arrest.

21-year-old Daniel Wayne Tufts, Truro, was remanded in to custody where he will appear in Amherst Provincial Court later today to answer the following charges:

  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime
  • Failing to Comply with an Undertaking
  • Driving while Revoked in Nova Scotia
  • Flight from Police
