Lethbridge man charged with impaired driving charges following August 1, 2017 fatal collision

On August 14, 2017, Clarenville RCMP arrested 31-year-old Travis Firmage from Lethbridge in connection with a fatal two-vehicle collision that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway. He has been charged with Impaired Driving Causing Death and Impaired Operation of Vehicle Causing Death by Exceeding 80 mgs.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 1, 2017, Clarenville RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a car and a transport truck. The car had been driving east when it crossed into the west-bound lane.

A 25-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, received serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver, Mr. Firmage, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 59-year-old driver of the transport truck was also taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

Mr. Firmage appeared in court this date and was released on conditions.
