News release

Just before 10 p.m. on December 14, Millbrook RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Legends Ave., where the vehicle lost control and went over the guardrail into the parking lot of a nearby business. Two passengers were injured and were trapped in the vehicle, while the driver fled the scene on foot. An RCMP police dog was used to track the suspect, and investigators believed the suspect got into a vehicle and left the area. Local Fire and EHS attended the scene and the two passengers were transported to hospital by ambulance.

RCMP officers received information that the suspect may be headed to Indian Brook, and police set up checkpoints. The suspect was located, arrested, and taken to the RCMP detachment for a breath test. His blood alcohol readings were nearly three times the legal limit. The 26-year-old driver from Mill Village is facing charges of Impaired Driving, Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content over 80 mg%, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm. Both passengers were transported to hospital with significant but non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
