RCMP vehicle stop leads to weapons charges

On March 31 at approximately 10:05 p.m., members of Lunenburg District RCMP stopped a vehicle on Beech Hill Road in Gold River. During the stop, members observed and seized open liquor, a handgun, and ammunition from the vehicle. The driver was arrested without incident and transported to the Chester RCMP Detachment.

The 48 year-old man from Gold River was issued a 7-day Driver's Licence Suspension for alcohol consumption and was released from custody. He will be attending Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 17 to face various weapons related charges including:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition

The investigation is ongoing.
